Cake Tasting

Lakes Cakes has made our wedding cake booking process extremely easy and convenient. For a $25.00 charge, we offer you a generous sample box (pickup only) so you are able to taste test our cakes before deciding if you would like to secure our services as you wedding cake designer. This box will contain at least 7 kinds of cake, and 4 or more optional fillings. Please note that the selections will be our choice, though you may make specifications such as “no nuts”, or other allergy restrictions.  Mini pastry (for sweets tables) sample boxes are $35.00.  Sample boxes must be ordered and prepaid by calling 248-366-4981

We will require a firm pickup day and time, and we will have your sample box ready for you to pick up and take home to try at your leisure. You will be provided with a quote in addition to the samples. Items needed that will help with putting together this quote are as follows:

1. Wedding date and venue
2. Number of servings needed
3. A cake design photo

Sending this information in advance via email (admin@lakescakes.com) is recommended.

Lakes Cakes no longer offers "sit-down" cake tastings or consultations since the Covid19 pandemic, and find that they are not necessary.  Actually, even prior to Covid, only a very small percentage of potential clients opted for an in-person consultation/cake tasting, which we offered for a charge.  Details of your cake are easily and conveniently finalized via email and phone.  That being said, we do briefly meet when the sample box is picked up and can happily answer any questions you may have.

After sampling the cakes, if you decide that you would like to secure our services for your wedding date, we will require a signed contract and 25% deposit, with the balance due 2 weeks prior to the event. Simply notify us via email that you would like to proceed, and we’ll send you a follow up email/questionnaire. The information requested will enable us to complete a contract for you which will sent via postal or email for your approval. You will then send a signed copy back to us along with the 25% deposit and that will officially “book” the date.

Please note, that we do not offer cake tastings or provide quotes/consultations outside of one year from the wedding date.
